Church Council

The Church Council (because of the small size of the congregation at Bamford) consists of the whole of the membership and meets twice a year in February and October and at other times when the need arises. The Church Council is the decision making body of the local church and its members are the Managing Trustees of the property. It is important to know that Bamford Methodist Church (as with all Methodist Churches) is not an isolated autonomous unit but is part of a Circuit and part of the Methodist Church of Great Britain which provide direction and support.

From the 1st September our new Minister in Pastoral Charge is the Rev. Richard Towle.

Richard comes to us from the Northwich Circuit in Cheshire where he has served for eight years. There he had pastoral charge of six rural churches. He says that he loves rural work and, whilst he is not thrilled by business meetings he does feel it a privilege to be able to work full time telling people about Jesus.

Originally, he trained for engineering but has worked in a bacon factory, a bank and prior to becoming a Methodist Minister he was a Maths Teacher for six years. So, he has had another life before ‘he turned his collar round’.

His wife, Amanda, is an accredited Local Preacher and is keen to join in the work. She will start taking appointments on the Preaching Plan once they have settled in.

Richard may be contacted on 01433 650305.

Leading roles in the life of the church are taken by the Organist, Church Stewards, Secretary, Treasurer and Property Stewards.

The Annual Church Meeting takes place in May. All members and interested folk are welcome at this meeting.
