Church family

The Methodist Church in Bamford is a small congregation of energetic people committed to worshipping and serving God. As far as we are able we seek to follow the example and teaching of Jesus.
We believe the love of God extends to all regardless of race, religion, age or gender and claim for ourselves no special privilege or favour.

Our commitment to caring and service begins within our own community but our horizons are world-wide. Our wish is that God's love as shown in Jesus may become a reality in the lives of all - then Christ's 'kingdom' will indeed have come 'on earth'.

We are part of the larger Methodist Church of Great Britain; in the first instance by being part of the Peak Circuit which supplies direction and support in terms of preaching and pastoral ministry.

We in turn are served and cared for by our minister, the Rev. Richard Towle, who resides at Hathersage.

Our new minister

Richard comes to us from the Northwich Circuit in Cheshire where he has served for eight years. There he had pastoral charge of six rural churches. He says that he loves rural work and, whilst he is not thrilled by business meetings he does feel it a privilege to be able to work full time telling people about Jesus.

Originally, he trained for engineering but has worked in a bacon factory, a bank and prior to becoming a Methodist Minister he was a Maths Teacher for six years. So, he has had another life before ‘he turned his collar round’.

His wife, Amanda, is an accredited Local Preacher and is keen to join in the work. She will start taking appointments on the Preaching Plan once they have settled in. A rare health condition she was born with has, over the years, led to 27 operations and sometimes her health prevents her doing as much as she would like to do.
We give them a very warm welcome.
