We are also here for people at special times in their lives such as baptisms, weddings and funerals. The minister may be the counsellor you need.

We are also involved in Circuit activities. You can find out about these on the Circuit website: www.peakmethodist.org.uk

Baptism. Theodore Oliver William Willis, son of Peter and Nicky, was baptized on 12th December at the morning service conducted by the Rev'd David Briggs. Peter's father and mother, Stan and Ruth, are members here at Bamford and Stan had the pleasure of baptizing his grandson. Nicky's parents from Formby, along with a large number of relatives and friends, were also present to see their grandson baptized.

Christian Aid Walk. The Walk this year was held on Saturday, 30th July, starting from the Methodist Church at 9.30 a.m. The route took us from Bamford down The Hollow to Shatton and over the hill to Brough where we stopped for coffee. Then on by the river behind Hope village to the edge of Castleton and behind the outdoor centre where we paused for lunch. At lunchtime two walkers left us nd we were joined by four others. Twenty-one people walked. Meem was a stalwart in providing trannsport and keeping us supplied with tea coffee water and squash. After lunch we crossed fields to the Edale Road and then passing Hope cemetery to Aston, Thornhill and back by the old railwaty track, crossing the Derwent at the Mill, to base for tea and biscuits, served by Jim and Andrea.

The amount raised was £858. A great effort - thanks to all.

Finance
The largest part of our income is from the direct giving of our members. A second source is from the hire of the premises. Our sole fund-raising event is a Gift Day.

Gift Day this year was held on the first Saturday in March. A good number turned out for this essential fund-raising event and enjoyed tea, coffee, a biscuit and a chat and a chance to use the 'bring-and-buy-stall' and raffle. The gifts received total £2,345.00.

Caring and serving has to include giving.
Throughout the year we make contributions to local and national charities. In the past year this has included Development work in Rwanda, India, Burma, Banglagesh, Christian Aid, Asylum Seekers, Action for Children, Youth Alpha course, Agricultural Chaplaincy, Hope Valley Golden Age Group and a Primary School RE Day. This is in addition to the mission and service activities of the Methodist Church such as Methodist Homes, MHA, Network, Mission at Home and Abroad.
